The Unknown & CrossFit:

The unknown and unknowable are exactly what CrossFit was designed to prepare you for.   This is 90% of the reason I hate posting the WOD’s on a daily basis.  While athletes look at it and say its a convenience thing for them to know what they are about to be doing I believe its more likely to be used by those who cherry pick their workouts.  I know, I know, not all of you out there do that, but every time I hear someone say “so and so didn’t come today because they saw the workout” I mentally add a note to not post a workout for each time I hear it.  We do not know what life holds in the balance for us today or tomorrow and we definitely don’t know what it has in store for us in the long run.  We do this GPP (general physical preparedness) program to prepare ourselves for anything and everything that is thrown our way.  We don’t always have the luxury of planning ahead for it so why train that way?  Just think about it for a moment and think about how many times you’ve seen a WOD and decided not to go because you were to sore or to worn down from work or whatever your reason is.  Think about it and think about how you are only holding yourself back from being able to make the progress you so dearly desire.
